JOB TITLE:         REVENUE STAFF ACCOUNTANT

LOCATION:        RESTON, VA

REPORTS TO:     SENIOR DIRECTOR, REVENUE ACCOUNTANT  

JOB FUNCTION:

Reporting to the Lead Senior Revenue Accountant, the  Revenue Staff Accountant is responsible for processing contracts, billing, revenue recognition, monthly deferred revenue reconciliations and assisting with ad hoc accounting issues for comScore.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • The Revenue Staff Accountant will work with other key stakeholders within comScore to ensure that all contract-related activities are accounted for timely and accurately.
  • The Revenue Staff Accountant will assist stream lining current processes and controls within Revenue Accounting.
  • This role will work as an integral team member on a highly visible Revenue Accounting team. 
  •  Enter contracts into the revenue accounting system in accordance with the US GAAP
  • Perform deferred revenue and unbilled analysis and other reconciliations
  • Interact with sales, sales operations, legal, and professional services
  • Document and review of contracts to support compliance with applicable authoritative literature
  • Prepare and assist in SOX documentation for Revenue Accounting
  • Assist with month end financial close assignments as needed  
  • Assist with information gathering for external and internal audit requests  
  • Create and book Journal Entries in the general ledger system  
  • Other special projects as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  One to three years of Accounting Experience
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Excellent Communications Skills
  • Good excel and Microsoft Suite skills
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting

JOB TITLE:          MANAGER OF REVENUE

JOB FUNCTION:

 Reporting to the Senior Director, Revenue Accounting, the Manager of Revenue will be responsible for supporting the global revenue team in overseeing the transformation of the revenue teams monthly close process including the process of booking contracts and other related close tasks. The Manager of Revenue will also supervise a team of Senior Accountants and Accountants day to day deliverables and collaborate with technical accounting and other key stakeholders in the company to ensure an effective accounting policies are being consistently applied while achieving a more efficient and effective close process. The individual must possess leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, the ability to work well within diverse environments and have an ability to effectively implement change.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a team of Senior Accountants and Accountants and review their work such as contracts, invoices, monthly reconciliations and reportsEnsure compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and Corporate policy and procedures
  • Provide technical accounting expertise and leadership on the treatment of accounting issues, such as the implementation of the new revenue accounting standards (606)
  • Create policies and procedures for the revenue team to assist with the technical accounting research and documentation of accounting findings for complex transactions.
  • Review and manage day to day revenue accounting tasks
  • Work with stakeholders to develop an operational implementation plan for ASC 606
  • Determine approach to maintaining parallel accounting of revenue under ASC 605 and ASC 606
  • Review the existing close process and look for opportunities to enhance the process to make it more efficientIdentify and implement best practices within the revenue team
  • Evaluate existing processes and standards and develops new processes and standards where appropriate
  • Drive consistency across the revenue accounting team
  • Assist in the design of controls to the extent existing control framework lacks guidance and/or is no longer relevant and propose recommendations
  • Interface with Internal Audit department to assist in the remediation process
  • Work with international revenue teams to understand and document differences between local team and the international team processes
  • Manage special projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong functional knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS and other regulatory requirements, with SEC experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills

Job Title- Revenue Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis

Location- Reston, VA

Reports To- Senior Manager, FP&A

Position Overview:

The Revenue Analyst will assist in the preparing of the monthly revenue forecast, preparing revenue schedules, and performing revenue analysis and support as requested.  The analyst will also assist in the creation of the budget, and the implementation of new processes and tools related to the creation of an automated forecast system.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build their understanding of corporate revenue analysis and forecasting and who wants to gain experience with implementing change and automation to improve processes.

What You’ll Do In This Role:

  • Revenue Forecasting- focus on tasks that will help prepare the monthly revenue forecast
    • Assist in the monthly revenue forecast by helping to build revenue projections from current contracts, projected contract renewals, expected new business, and other sources
    • Create, develop and refine revenue schedules supporting the forecast
    • Prepare schedules and analysis that help improve the linkage between Contract Value (CV) and revenue
  • Revenue Analysis- provide revenue analysis and support regularly as requested
    • Help develop and refine revenue analysis that tracks revenue by customer and other key metrics important to the business
    • Seek out better ways to analyze revenue trends and patterns to help improve the forecast process and methodology
  • Revenue Forecasting Portal- support the implementation and operation of a new revenue forecasting tool
    • Support the transition of the forecasting process from current state to the newly designed revenue forecasting tool
    • Assist with implementation, testing and tweaking of the new tool
    • Once launched, utilize the tool to provide ongoing support to sales, accounting and other teams throughout the company
  • Revenue Budgeting- assist In the creation of the annual revenue budget
    • Build supporting revenue schedules and Contract Value (CV) templates used for revenue modeling
    • Enter data into CV targets into financial ERP system and review for reasonableness
    • Work directly with sales leaders to ensure budget requests are accurately reflected

What You’ll Bring:

  • Passion for revenue analysis and the impact that great analysis and reporting can have on the business
  • 0-3 ears of similar revenue or financial analysis reporting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or similar field
  • Understanding of accounting rules and GAAP
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and experience using it in a similar role
  • Financial ERP system experience a plus

Position Overview:Reporting to the Senior Accountant of Revenue, the Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for processing cash receipt transactions daily and reconciling related general ledger accounts monthly. To be successful in this role, the candidate must be a self-starter and comfortable working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The candidate should also possess the ability to interact effectively with teams within and external to the Accounting department, including Billings, Collections, Financial Planning and Analysis, Sales, Sales Operations, and Legal.

What You Do In This Role:

  • Process and enter daily cash receipts in a timely fashion
  • Prepare batches to be posted to the Accounts Receivable subledger and general ledger
  • Communicate with customers and banks to verify accuracy of payment application
  • Assist Collections with inquiries regarding customer accounts
  • Perform Accounts Receivable reconciliations monthly
  • Assist internal and external auditors with requests related to Cash and Accounts Receivable
  • Complete other special projects as assigned

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

The GL Accountant will report to the Accounting Supervisor and will work closely with the General Ledger team. To be successful in this role, you must have strong knowledge of GAAP and the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment. You should have the ability to interact effectively with cross functional teams, including FP&A, Sales, Sales Operations, Billing Team, and Legal. We are looking for someone who has excellent problem solving skills and enjoys working in a challenging and fast-paced environment to support our continued success and growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in month end close activities
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Fixed asset creation & disposals
  • Inter-company transactions
  • Reviewing of all transactions to assure accounting treatment is in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reviewing general ledger accounts and making all necessary journal entries including posting monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals.
  • Analysis and review of company expenditures, confirming proper allocation of expenses to the various departments, and reporting to the various departments as necessary.
  • Preparing financial statements including balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position, as well as assisting Planning with budget variance analysis.
  • Review of financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures.
  • Providing necessary support for external auditors.
  • Seeking ways to improve upon accounting processes and procedures.
  • Assisting with and handling special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA required.
  • 2-4 years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
  • International accounting experience a plus.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
