ACTVITIES

Measuring Internet TV comes with the challenge to integrate different panel sources like metered panels, TV households and profiles from third party partners to obtain demographics. You will actively collaborate with Product, Engineering, Sales and Operations to understand, create and implement solutions. For this you need to be familiar with privacy regulations, hashing and un-hashing principles for ID’s like IDFA to link panel members to collected census data of the players.

 

You need to understand how TV broadcasters have organized their Internet TV Content and explain how they can leverage this for their digital platforms. The same accounts for their Video Ads.

 

We will ask you to visit our (international) clients, media partners and JICs to design and organize a media research solution involving several data sources (census data based on tags, metered panel data and panel identification concepts). You will organize a kick off to get full engagement of participants to start a proper implementation process. Once the TV Broadcasters have started their implementations you will engage (in remote sessions) to assure it is done properly to measure the full behavior of their players and check that measurements can be associated to the correct TV Episode. For this you will work together with (local) support teams. If needed, we will ask you to revisit the clients, JICs and media partners to assure a swift roll out.

Change management, Service Level Agreement, alerting, and self-testing tools are important aspects to assure the quality of the daily digital TV data. This is a subject in which you will participate in the design phase. You will find out that each country and region will have its own flavor.

 

You will assist in monthly technical group meetings where progress, issues and new developments will be discussed with the TV Broadcasters.

The Product Operations team is responsible for supporting the data collection, aggregation and processing environments needed for comScore to deliver data to clients on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. We collect and process 65 Billion records on a daily basis which are used to run up to 100,000 jobs daily. These processes run in Hadoop, Greenplum and Windows environments on over 1000+ servers. Our team ensures that the environments are healthy and processes are running as expected by monitoring dashboards and alerts and taking action to resolve problems as quickly as possible.

 

The Product Operations team is hiring a Systems Engineer to help with environment support, application support, and process automation in both Linux and Windows environments.  This position involves support and development of software deployment processes to Hadoop and AWS environments.  This position will also assist with Linux server maintenance and supporting multiple Hadoop clusters. 

 

Problem solving will consume a large portion of your time, as you will assist multiple teams with resolving issues on a daily basis. This role will have a heavy component of "process operations" and best practices development involved. Your technical and analytical skills will be challenged and will increase over time as you become the point of contact for production processing.

  • Work with development and operations team to improve current software release processes

Our release engineers, part of the Software Configuration Management (SCM) team, are responsible for managing all aspects of the release process: building release candidates, running automated tests, deploying releases, and coordinating with developers and QA as necessary to identify and resolve merge conflicts and test failures.  The release engineer works under the supervision of a team lead and team management.

JOB FUNCTION

The Linear API team is responsible for building comScore’s next generation data delivery platform. Our API is a driver of business growth by providing access to comScore’s television ratings metrics for a broad range of clients and products. As a member of this small fast moving team you’ll have large impact on the evolution and adoption of the API as well as on the success of our business.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work within an agile team to develop new endpoints and enhancements to the comScore Linear Television API.
  • Recommend and implement creative solutions for improving response times for large data sets.
  • Increase scalability and maintainability to support rapid usage growth.
  • Collaborate openly with stakeholders and clients to continuously improve the product and increase adoption.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related major with 2 or more years of related experience or at least 5 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience in the design and development of web based APIs. We are currently utilizing JSON over HTTP(S) and are currently migrating our platform to AWS
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) along with a track record of success delivering large software projects.
  • Our API is written in Scala, so experience with functional languages like Scala or Haskell is preferred. Python and/or Java is nice to have.
  • Experience w/ Spark is nice to have.
