WHAT DO YOU DO DAY TO DAY?

  • Work directly with our SVP Research and Methods to:
    • Analyze information obtained from management in order to conceptualize and define operational problems
    • Formulate mathematical or simulation models of these problems
    • Work with product and development teams defining and evaluating problems and recommending solutions
  • Undertake the operational and technical aspects of processing information and data analysis in areas relevant to the work area (understanding audience and campaign measurement)
  • Contribute to the development of processes, procedures, methodologies and systems relevant to the work area, including preparation of appropriate documentation
  • Understand the requirements of internal and external clients and where applicable, liaise, communicate and provide assistance
  • Apply knowledge and maintain awareness of issues for providing advice in areas of expertise
  • Research conceptual and methodological issues and recommend/implement improvement based on research.

 WHAT CORE SKILLS WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS:

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or other Quantitative Analytics required, masters strongly preferred
  • Bachelors plus 1+ years of working in statistical modeling or statistical problem solving environment or masters and relevant modeling experience gained in university environment
  • Strong understanding of statistical tools / model building and their application to solve business initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

    The Linear Data Feeds team has the mission critical responsibility for delivering comScores television ratings metrics to clients at television networks, ad agencies and third party systems providers.  Our numerous data feed products allow for the efficient delivery of large amounts of data for ingestion into widely used applications across the industry.  As a member of this fast paced team you will have a big impact on the growth of the business and value we provide to clients. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

    • Work within an agile team to develop and enhance data feed products.
    • Develop customized deliveries and proof of concepts to help generate new business and product ideas.
    • Increase scalability and maintainability of the software architecture to support growing demand.
    • Recommend and implement creative solutions for improving response times for large data sets.
    • Collaborate openly with stakeholders and clients to continuously improve the product and increase adoption.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related major
    • Experience with Python and/or Perl and the ability to learn other scripting languages as business needs change.
    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Extra Credit for PostgreSQL experience.

    comScore is seeking a technical, quality focused Senior Database Developer to provide support to join a team developing robust datamarts that fuel comScore's indsutry leading analytics products.     This is a unique opportunity to work alongside talented, innovative engineers solving the unique challenges of transforming over 2 Trillion monthly media interactions into insightful products.  Your work will be used by the world's most prominent Internet and consumer brands to understand consumer behavior and influence their global marketing, media and business strategies.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, including transactions, (begin..try, merge, common table expressions, ROW_NUMBER/OVER, bulk insert, filtering and covering indexes, computed columns)
    • Experience working with database architecture and schema for very large databases (think Terabytes!) and very large tables (think Gigabytes)
    • Partitioned Tables/Indexes (Switching/Merging/Splitting)
    • Performance tuning/code debugging
    • Hierarchical datasets
    • Building and maintaining SSIS packages
    • Building and maintaining SSAS cubes

     Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related field
    • 5+  years of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (or above) database development experience
    • Excellent statistical analysis skills, ability to research and analyze various different types of data information, and to effectively manage the delivery of that data
    • A passion for, and unyielding pursuit of good, clean and standardized code
    • Ability to make accurate level of effort (LOE) estimates
    • Ability to make decisions under pressure
    • Effective communicators with the ability to maintain honest and open communication at all times with individuals at all levels internally
    • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours (if necessary) to accomplish business objectives

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of replication (transactional) and clustering
    • Experience with Agile development, software and web development technologies (e.g. C#, ASP.NET) is desired
    • Experience with building and maintaining SSAS cubes preferred, but not necessary
