comScore is searching for the newly created role of Vice President of Corporate Compliance for our Reston, VA headquarters.  The ideal candidate for this role will be an individual contributor comfortable working with both the strategic and tactical elements of the company’s compliance function.  This person will revise, enhance, and oversee all compliance efforts for comScore and will work closely with the General Counsel and other key stakeholders to ensure that the company and its employees understand and are complying with all applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures. 

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the General Counsel to operate an effective and sustainable Compliance program to support the company’s continued growth
  • Develop and implement the policies related to Compliance and revise them as necessary per the changes in domestic and international laws and regulations – with a special focus on data privacy
  • Advise executives on ethics, business conduct, and compliance matters to maintain a principled Compliance culture throughout the business
  • Work with key stakeholders to manage and forecast internal/external business challenges and collaborate with company management to mitigate risk
  • Oversee company’s privacy strategy and implement revisions and changes identified in company audits with regard to adoption of best practices, compliance with changing laws and regulations, and the application of such strategy to our products, operations and internal practices.
  • Oversee annual privacy audit that tests current privacy practices against the Generally Accepted Privacy Principles (GAPP).
  • Oversee and manage the process of disclosing and evaluating potential conflicts of interest and, where appropriate, ensure that mitigation plans are implemented
  • Work closely with the Internal Audit team to monitor, evaluate, and improve the company’s Compliance program and related controls and partner with the Internal Audit and finance teams to prepare Audit Committee meeting materials
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members to investigate allegations of violations of comScore’s policies, whether such allegations were received through the company’s whistleblower hotline, or through other sources. Recommend appropriate remedial and/or disciplinary measures and to ensure such measures are promptly implemented
  • Partner with Learning and Development team to develop and communicate training sessions on Compliance policies and procedures to ensure proper understanding of regulatory related risks and responsibilities and ensure teams throughout the organization are in alignment with the Compliance goals

 

 

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school with strong academic record required
  • 10+ years demonstrated track record of increased responsibility in corporate Compliance roles
  • Compliance experience in a corporate environment for a public company required. Experience working in the technology industry strongly preferred
  • Ability to apply knowledge of the regulatory framework to business processes in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience in diagnosing the need for new Compliance procedures and policies and the ability to recommend and implement revisions a must
  • Previous experience leading data privacy compliance in a technology organization required
  • Must be extremely well organized, work well on a team, have keen attention to legal and business details, and have strong legal and technical writing skills
  • Experience with data privacy and security matters
  • Must be effective working with others in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multi-task and manage a large volume of current priorities

The Infrastructure Operations team is responsible for supporting the servers, network and storage devices across all of comScore’s data centers and cloud environments. We collect and process 65 Billion records on a daily basis which are used to run up to 100,000 jobs daily. These processes run in Hadoop, Greenplum and Windows environments on over 1000+ servers.
Our team ensures that the environments are healthy and functioning as expected by monitoring dashboards and alerts and taking action to resolve problems as quickly as possible.



JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Build and run a team who will monitor and troubleshoot issues with the network and storage devices along with thousands of servers.  These environments exist on premise as well as in AWS and are a mixture of physical and virtual environments.  This management position will also be responsible for working with multiple teams in the US to create support and escalation procedures based on the impact to the business. 



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hire and train a new team that is able to provide 24x7 support
  • Work with network, storage and data center teams to create troubleshooting procedures
  • Windows and Linux server troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and escalate issues across multiple teams on priority basis until they are resolved
  • Communicate impact of major issues including the root cause
  • Help in process improvement and documentation

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of managing an operations team
  • Strong sense of accountability

The right candidate will provide essential support for comScores critical internal infrastructure, utilities and core services. What You'll Do In This Role:

  • Perform day-to-day system administration duties on Linux servers across comScore's environments, supporting business-critical systems
  • Respond to and resolve incident tickets and monitoring alerts
  • Automate common procedures used to resolve incidents and monitoring alerts
  • Standardize and document common procedures that cant be easily automated for hand-off to other resources or teams for execution
  • Participate in rotating 24x7 on call schedule of production systems

What You'll Need In This Role:

  • Fluent in Perl or similar scripting languages for developing Linux applications
  • Fluent in the Linux command line and adept with system administrative tasks on a Redhat Linux platform
  • Experience in Puppet configuration management is preferred
  • Experience collaborating and managing source code with Git
  • Excellent oral, written and computer communication skills with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

What you'll do day-to-day:

  • Provide troubleshooting and support expertise to internal end-users on technical issues related to Windows 7/10-based client and server software and equipment via phone and in-person. You will NOT be in a call center environment.
  • Responsible for maintenance on all office equipment including copiers, fax machine, phones, printers, video conferencing.
  • Responsible for local phone system administration including moves, adds, changes, and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for maintaining hardware and software inventories for the organization and taking the lead on projects as requested. 
  • Prepare technical documentation for end-user support training. 

What skills you'll need for this role:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or Engineering strongly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with: Windows 7/10, Web Servers (IIS), TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Internet Explorer/Firefox/Chrome
  • Familiarity with commercial incident tracking software.
  • Experience with laptop/notebook hardware and wireless networking is required.
