Comscore Named a Top Trusted Website in the OTA’s 2014 Online Trust Honor Roll

Comscore recognized for demonstrating leadership in brand protection, online security and privacy best practices for two consecutive years

RESTON, VA, June 11, 2014 – Comscore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today announced that the company has been named to the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) 2014 Online Trust Honor Roll for the second year in a row as a result of demonstrating exceptional consumer protection, data security and privacy practices. The OTA Online Trust Honor Roll sets the industry standard of best practices on companies’ self-regulatory efforts regarding data privacy online.

Strong privacy practices are at the core of all of Comscore’s operations, and we routinely engage with the broader privacy and legal communities to discuss and implement new best practices,” stated Chris Lin, Chief Privacy Officer at Comscore. “We are pleased to be named to this year’s OTA Honor Roll, and look forward to continuing conversations with OTA and other leading organizations about data privacy and consumer protection.”

OTA’s 2014 Online Trust Honor Roll evaluated leading websites’ adoption of security controls and privacy practices, including those advocated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the National Telecommunication Information Administration (NTIA) and OTA Mobile Privacy & Security Best Practices. To stay current with the ever-changing data security and privacy standards, new criteria were added to this year’s audit methodology including updated requirements surrounding SSL server configuration and cryptographic protocols, and increased weighting on phishing and fraudulent email protection at the top-level domain.

“In an online world that is continuously changing, organizations that have demonstrated a pattern of leadership and stewardship of their online properties should be recognized for their commitment to their customers, employees and stockholders,” said Craig Spiezle, president and executive director of the Online Trust Alliance. “Comscore’s leadership has been a driving factor in the support of these best practices.”

Started in 2005 as an effort to drive adoption of best practices, the objectives of the Honor Roll are to 1) recognize leadership and commitment to best practices which aid in the protection of online trust and confidence in online services, 2) Enable businesses to enhance their security, data protection and privacy practices, 3) Move from compliance to stewardship, demonstrating support of meaningful self-regulation, and 4) Promote security & privacy as part of a company’s brand promise and value proposition.

Being named to the 2014 Honor Roll is a significant achievement considering the large number of companies that received failing marks for inadequate domain and brand protection, insufficient privacy practices and site security.
