Comscore Selected As Online Media Measurement Currency In Spain

  • AIMC and IAB Spain have approved the recommendation made by the ‘Mesa de Contratación’ after assessing the proposals submitted in September.
  • The main goal is to establish an agreed measurement currency for the advertising market in order to promote the development of digital business in Spain.
  • A committee will be nominated, that will work together with a Comscore committee (Comite de Usuarios)

MADRID, SPAIN, 27 October 2011 - IAB Spain and the AIMC have announced that Comscore was selected as the winner of the JIC tender to achieve a digital measurement system that will serve as the model for advertising sales in the Spanish market.

Comscore has been chosen as the official source of record for online measurement in Spain for a minimum of 3 years with the option to extend the contract until 2016. Nielsen and Kantar Media were the other two companies that submitted their proposals. AIMC and IAB are grateful to the companies that submitted proposals in order to improve the current situation.

IAB Spain and AIMC will ensure that Comscore fulfills all criteria as agreed.

Comscore has been chosen to provide the following:

  • Recruit a panel that will represent the online audience
  • Allow the market freedom of choice by providing an open solution web analytics tool
  • Integrate census data with the Comscore panel data based on Unified Digital Measurement (UDM)
  • Produce daily UDM data by 2013
  • Implementation of advertising campaigns results monitoring tools based on the panel.

Comscore will ensure the compliance of the following recommendations:

  • The universe of the measurement must be agreed by the market, in this case incorporating Estudio General de Medios (EGM) as establishment survey
  • Implement the Unified Digital Measurement (UDM) methodology
  • Create a technical committee consisting of clients with the ability to intervene in decisions related to the local market
  • Agreement to be audited independently

It has been agreed that the committee will oversee the schedule, and assure time management. This committee shall be a body of support for Comscore’s user committee and it will also communicate and monitor the committed tender conditions. As a follow-up, a special report will be issued at the end of the first year explaining the ‘state of the operation’.
