MDA and Comscore Release Rankings of Top Web Entities in Malaysia for September 2014

Introduction of Mobile Metrix Provides Insights of iOS and Android Smartphone and Tablet Audiences

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, November 18, 2014 – The Malaysian Digital Association (MDA), the apex representative body for online publishers, advertising agencies and digital service providers in Malaysia, and Comscore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a global leader in digital media analytics, today released their monthly rankings of web activity at the top online entities in Malaysia for September 2014 based on data from the Comscore MMX® and Comscore Mobile Metrix® services.

The introduction of Mobile Metrix in Malaysia allows for reporting of mobile browser and app audiences on smartphones and tablets. This service helps publishers to demonstrate the size and value of their mobile audiences to advertisers, and helps media planners and buyers to better evaluate advertising opportunities on mobile devices. In Asia Pacific, Malaysia was the first market to introduce Mobile Metrix. This service is also available in Australia, China, India and Singapore in the region, and will be available in Hong Kong and Taiwan later this year.

Serm Teck Choon, Head of Measurement and Audit at MDA, said, “With rapidly increasing digital media activity on smartphones and tablets in Malaysia, advertisers and advertising agencies need to know how consumers are engaging with content across mobile devices, sites and apps, while publishers want to quantify and identify new opportunities to monetise their digital audience. Comscore Mobile Metrix provides trusted third-party measurement and insights for the development of digital strategies as well as the digital industry in Malaysia.”

Paul Moss, General Manager, Platforms and Technology at Media Prima Digital, said, “Media Prima believes that measuring and understanding the behaviour of mobile audiences is critical for publishers and advertisers, especially with so much digital media activity shifting to smartphones and tablets in Malaysia. Mobile Metrix provides us with valuable insights to more effectively serve digital content across our different channels and make better informed decisions on the evolution of our mobile offerings.”

As part of Comscore’s global rollout, Mobile Metrix in Malaysia leverages Comscore’s census-based methodology that enables in-market mobile measurement without the need for a traditional mobile panel. The output delivers person-centric measurement for tagged entities. Publishers looking to understand and monetise their mobile audiences can improve their measurement by ensuring complete implementation of tagging for all pages and apps. Only tagged entities can be featured in the Comscore rankings due to this census-only approach.
