Year 1 at comScore

In your first year at comScore, you’ll encounter many opportunities, traverse challenges and develop skills. Here is a glimpse from comScore leaders into what to expect:

DATA ANALYST

Analysts in their first year at comScore are exposed to cutting edge methodologies in measuring behavior in all digital platforms including PC, smartphone, tablet, and TV. They are given roles in either subject matter expertise in our measurement products or a broader analytics role that supports a wide range of custom solutions. First-year hires are focused on data quality and product deliveries where analysts can expect to learn the basics behind research methodology and have access to big data systems that house tens of billions of data records collected on daily basis that are leveraged in comScore products. Within the first year, analysts are immersed in large data sets, discovering new market trends and solutions as the digital ecosystem continues to rapidly evolve. Analysts of all levels also enjoy interaction with software engineering teams that lead the industry in big data processing techniques. It’s the perfect job for people interested in data and the evolution of the digital environment.

— Brian, Senior Vice President, Audience Analytics

CLIENT INSIGHTS ANALYST

Associate Analysts in the Client Insights team build a skill set that is both broad and powerful, gaining hands on experience in data analytics, business and digital strategy, and client communication and presentation.  In the first year, analysts can be expected to see their work in action- their presentation and recommendations moving directly in the hands of clients, sometimes presented by the new analysts themselves!   Many companies offer new analysts the opportunity to contribute in analytical roles or client-facing roles, but few offer what comScore does- a true blend of big data analytics and business, and opportunity to work with leading digital strategists at top companies, and the chance to learn from a smart, engaged, and passionate group of mentors and peers.

— Jennifer, Vice President, comScore Marketing Solutions

STATISTICAL ANALYST

Statisticians in their first year at comScore will be exposed to a wide variety of novel applications of statistics to many kinds of data, solving first-of-a-kind problems driven by the rapid pace of innovation in the digital industry. First year statisticians will have access to multiple kinds of data, from small surveys to massive big data. At comScore, the path for statisticians is not a slow apprenticeship as it is in many large organizations. comScore statisticians are set to work early on thinking about new product development, innovations in current methodologies, and research for thought leadership. First year hires work directly with, and receive mentorship from, the most senior statisticians in the company. Statisticians at comScore have opportunities to work on custom projects as well as to build methodologies and automation that drive our core products.

— Steven, Vice President, Research

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Engineers in their first year at comScore will be exposed to our industry leading big data systems and processes. For first year Engineers, it isn’t solely the grunt work of tuning and maintenance, but rather a sizable involvement in ground-up design and development. These Engineers will work on projects across the entire data lifecycle from collection, to processing, down to reporting – projects that involve the petabytes of data that are leveraged in comScore’s daily production. They will be exposed to systems that orchestrate thousands of jobs running 24-7 on thousands of machines in multiple data centers. First year hires will work with engineers that enjoy the challenges that data at scale bring to the table. A first year Engineer will also work with world class Analysts on projects with bottom-line impact for the business, often working to bring new products to market. This is the job for engineers who want to work at scale on projects that matter in the industry.

— Will, Senior Vice President, Software Engineering

Anthony-New-College-Hire

Working at comScore has been an incredible experience thus far. From company basics and methodology, to core products and services, the new hire program provided me with the right set of tools to ensure that my integration into the workforce would be a smooth and effective one.
Right off the bat, I was able to work on key company projects and even saw myself play a part in the release of “Xmedia”, one of comScore’s newest and most highly-anticipated products. It’s safe to say that I can attribute much of my success today to the extensive training provided by the new hire program.
