comScore Reports July 2011 U.S. Mobile Subscriber Market Share

comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR) today released data from the comScore MobiLens service, reporting key trends in the U.S. mobile phone industry during the three month average period ending July 2011. Who Is Watching Video on Their Mobile

For the three month average period ending June 2011, more than 16 million mobile users in the U.S. watched TV or video on their mobile phones. Males made up a significantly larger percentage of the mobile TV/video viewing audience (61.8%) compared to females (38.2%). Top U.S. Smartphone App Categories

More than 76.8 million Americans owned smartphones during the three months ending in May 2011, up 57 percent from the previous year. A look at the top smartphone app categories revealed that Weather apps had the largest audience reaching 31 million smartphone owners, or 40.4% of the total U.S. smartphone audience.
