Comscore is thrilled to announce that we recently planted our 3 millionth tree as part of our “Trees for Knowledge” panelist recruitment program. In partnership with the non-profit organization Trees for the Future, Comscore introduced this program in 2008 to support the planting of millions of trees in developing communities throughout the world as part of an incentive program used to recruit and retain research panelists.

Since 1988, Trees for the Future – also headquartered in the greater Washington, D.C. area – has helped thousands of communities in Central America, Africa, and Asia improve their livelihoods and their environment by planting tens of millions of trees. Trees for the Future calculates that each mature tree removes approximately 50 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year. The program is also active in the U.S., educating students and communities about global issues, the environment, and energy efficiency.
We are delighted to continue partnering with this admirable organization and help fulfill its global mission of improving livelihoods and restoring degraded lands to sustainable productivity. This partnership is a great example of how business and environmental interests can overlap and create value for the broader global community.
So just how big is 3 million trees? At an average of 30 trees per acre, Comscore’s “Trees for Knowledge” program has planted the equivalent of 100,000 acres or 156 square miles – twice the number of square miles of Washington, D.C.!
