Video Consumption via Smartphone is Increasing Rapidly in EU5 Countries

The video landscape in Europe is changing. The percentage of EU5 (Spain, Germany, Italy, France and UK) smartphone users that watched a video or TV via their device, at least once in a month, has increased 112 percent over the past year to 52.8 million smartphone users (representing 34.8 percent of the EU5 audience) in June 2013.

Germany had the highest growth in mobile video consumption (up 150 percent) reaching 33.5 percent of smartphone users in the three month average ending June 2013. Italy and Spain also showed strong growth (up 124 and 110 percent respectively) with Spain leading the ranking as 40.2 percent of smartphone users watched a video or TV that month. Video consumption on mobile devices was also popular in the UK, reaching 37.2 percent of smartphone users and 26.5 percent of French smartphone owners accessed video content on their mobile in June 2013.
