French automotive magazine, LaCentrale.fr - a publication through which visitors can buy and sell vehicles and parts - was the fastest growing property in France. The site increased total traffic by 22 percent, to reach 1.6 million unique visitors.

Sparked in part by the onset of the French football season, Newsweb, a property focusing predominantly on sports and targeted at a male audience, was the second fastest growing site, with total traffic increasing by 12.8 percent to 1.5 million unique visitors. Interestingly, a third of the site’s total traffic was comprised of women, who accounted for 552,000 unique visitors.

As has been the case throughout the summer months, travel and holiday sites also proved popular. Reflecting the lateness of the summer holiday season, Lastminute.com was the fastest growing of these properties in August, with traffic increasing by 12.7 percent, to 2.7 million unique visitors. It was followed by Amadeus Global Travel Distribution, a site which positions itself as the largest processor of travel bookings in the world, and which enjoyed a 10.6 percent growth in August to reach 3.6 million unique visitors.

dicodunet.com, a French language site in the mould of Wikipedia, the global encyclopedia property and itself the tenth largest property in France with 7.4 million unique visitors, experienced a 4.5 percent growth to reach 1.5 million unique visitors. The largest of the top 10 fastest growing sites was Cyrealis, an online media entertainment presence that includes a number of online magazines. It increased total traffic in August by 7.4 percent to reach 4.3 million unique visitors.

Delphine Gatignol, Comscore’s Business Development Manager for France, said: “This is a dynamic range of growing sites. It is interesting to see that in the month of August – a traditionally quiet period for general media consumption – it is not just travel and holiday sites that have benefited from increased traffic.”
