Behavior Activated Research (BAR®)
is a unique survey research application that combines comScore's
expertise with the enhanced targeting capabilities of Catalina
Marketing. Through BAR®, comScore capitalizes on the breadth
of the Catalina printer network to issue consumer survey invitations
based on known purchase behavior.
Enhanced Targeting Capabilities
Using the Catalina printer network, which is installed in 18,000
stores in 99 U.S. markets, comScore targets brand or category
buyers, including niche groups and hard-to-reach consumer segments.
Based on actual purchase behavior — either current or historical
purchases — consumers receive a retailer-specific survey invitation,
complete with a unique PIN number and details for completing
the survey online or by calling a toll-free phone number.
BAR® survey invitations can be triggered by:

- Category purchases
- Purchase frequency — high, medium, or low
- High value purchasers
- Brand switchers
- Brand buyers at specific retailers
