Position Overview:Reporting to the Senior Accountant of Revenue, the Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for processing cash receipt transactions daily and reconciling related general ledger accounts monthly. To be successful in this role, the candidate must be a self-starter and comfortable working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The candidate should also possess the ability to interact effectively with teams within and external to the Accounting department, including Billings, Collections, Financial Planning and Analysis, Sales, Sales Operations, and Legal.

What You Do In This Role:

  • Process and enter daily cash receipts in a timely fashion
  • Prepare batches to be posted to the Accounts Receivable subledger and general ledger
  • Communicate with customers and banks to verify accuracy of payment application
  • Assist Collections with inquiries regarding customer accounts
  • Perform Accounts Receivable reconciliations monthly
  • Assist internal and external auditors with requests related to Cash and Accounts Receivable
  • Complete other special projects as assigned

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • The Revenue Staff Accountant will work with other key stakeholders within comScore to ensure that all contract-related activities are accounted for timely and accurately.
  • The Revenue Staff Accountant will assist stream lining current processes and controls within Revenue Accounting.
  • This role will work as an integral team member on a highly visible Revenue Accounting team. 
  •  Enter contracts into the revenue accounting system in accordance with the US GAAP
  • Perform deferred revenue and unbilled analysis and other reconciliations
  • Interact with sales, sales operations, legal, and professional services
  • Document and review of contracts to support compliance with applicable authoritative literature
  • Prepare and assist in SOX documentation for Revenue Accounting
  • Assist with month end financial close assignments as needed  
  • Assist with information gathering for external and internal audit requests  
  • Create and book Journal Entries in the general ledger system  
  • Other special projects as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Reporting to the Senior Director, Revenue Accounting, the Manager of Revenue will be responsible for supporting the global revenue team in overseeing the transformation of the revenue teams monthly close process including the process of booking contracts and other related close tasks. The Manager of Revenue will also supervise a team of Senior Accountants and Accountants day to day deliverables and collaborate with technical accounting and other key stakeholders in the company to ensure an effective accounting policies are being consistently applied while achieving a more efficient and effective close process. The individual must possess leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, the ability to work well within diverse environments and have an ability to effectively implement change.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a team of Senior Accountants and Accountants and review their work such as contracts, invoices, monthly reconciliations and reportsEnsure compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and Corporate policy and procedures
  • Provide technical accounting expertise and leadership on the treatment of accounting issues, such as the implementation of the new revenue accounting standards (606)
  • Create policies and procedures for the revenue team to assist with the technical accounting research and documentation of accounting findings for complex transactions.
  • Review and manage day to day revenue accounting tasks
  • Work with stakeholders to develop an operational implementation plan for ASC 606
  • Determine approach to maintaining parallel accounting of revenue under ASC 605 and ASC 606

  • Evaluate existing processes and standards and develops new processes and standards where appropriate
  • Drive consistency across the revenue accounting team
