Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs revenue accounting functions particularly documenting evidence of delivery for all contracts and determining completeness and if delivery are within the terms of the contract.
  • Review contracts and be able to translate revenue and billing information in the system
  • Provide immediate support and research to revenue related questions and concerns from assigned verticals
  • Constantly update and learn the company’s different product suites and understand the revenue treatment for different products
  • Support internal and external audit related tasks
  • Actively promotes teamwork and maintains open communication with peers and management.
  • Willingness to handle Ad hoc requests that require quick a turn around and output

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree Accounting or Finance from an accredited university
  • Minimum 2 years progressively responsible accounting or finance experience with a small to medium sized company.
  • Proven ability and desire to work effectively, delivering accurate results under tight deadlines, in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, dynamic environment.
  • Advanced understanding of Excel
  • Experience with any major accounting software.
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Ability to confidently and effectively communicate to all levels within the Company.

Job Title:  Internal Auditor

Location:  Reston, VA

Reports To:  VP, Enterprise Risk Management

JOB FUNCTION:

Are you ready to work in a fast paced environment with a team who partners with key decision makers and strategic business owners on a regular basis?  As a member of the Internal Audit Department, you will partner with comScore’s IT, Finance, Accounting, Legal, HR, and Sales & Marketing leaders in more than 30 countries around the globe.  Our team supports executive management by identifying/analyzing risks to the organization and developing successful strategies to prevent/mitigate these potential concerns.  Top candidates will be self-motivated with excellent people skills, strong internal/external communications and a commitment to learning our business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and perform internal audits and be able to summarize and articulate to management results of the audit
  • Take ownership for evaluating and testing discrete sections of the organization’s Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program (i.e. SOX)
  • Assist with IT-related audits and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) assessments
  • Partner with business leaders to keep up on business trends, new risks, and opportunities
  • Follow-up with management on status of previously identified areas for improvement

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • 2+ years. of Accounting and/or Internal Audit experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and familiarity with SOX
  • Good understanding of Internal Control and Audit practices and typical business processes
  • Attention to detail and strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Great attitude and a desire to help the organization improve processes and controls
  • An interest and willingness to learn and perform IT-related testing procedures
  • An interest and willingness to assist with the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management efforts

JOB TITLE:   GENERAL LEDGER STAFF ACCOUNTANT

LOCATION:   RESTON, VA

REPORTS TO: ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

JOB FUNCTION:

The GL Accountant will report to the Accounting Supervisor and will work closely with the General Ledger team. To be successful in this role, you must have strong knowledge of GAAP and the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment. You should have the ability to interact effectively with cross functional teams, including FP&A, Sales, Sales Operations, Billing Team, and Legal. We are looking for someone who has excellent problem solving skills and enjoys working in a challenging and fast-paced environment to support our continued success and growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in month end close activities
  • Reviewing of all transactions to assure accounting treatment is in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reviewing general ledger accounts and making all necessary journal entries including posting monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals.
  • Analysis and review of company expenditures, confirming proper allocation of expenses to the various departments, and reporting to the various departments as necessary.
  • Preparing financial statements including balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position, as well as assisting Planning with budget variance analysis.
  • Review of financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures.
  • Providing necessary support for external auditors.
  • Seeking ways to improve upon accounting processes and procedures.
  • Assisting with and handling special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
  • 2-4 years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
  • International accounting experience a plus. 
  • Team player with a positive attitude towards contributing and learning.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Self starter, quick learner, and ability to multi-task on a regular basis.

Job Title:  Senior Accountant – Reporting and Policy

Reports To:   Senior Director

Location:  Reston, VA

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Policy, the Senior Accountant Reporting and Policy will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of complex revenue transactions related to the Company’s service offerings in accordance with US GAAP. The Senior Accountant will be a part of a dynamic reporting and policy team involved with all technical accounting and reporting responsibilities. This high profile role will require interaction with the revenue team, legal, sales and sales operations allowing the individual to gain meaningful insight into a growing Company. This role will include partnering with the respective business personnel and other stakeholders in the revenue cycle to understand the offering; evaluate and influence the structure; assess and conclude on the technical accounting conclusions. In addition to revenue related responsibilities, the Senior Accountant will support other technical and reporting initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and account for complex revenue contracts entered into by the Company
  • Draft technical memos to support analysis of revenue contract accounting
  • Support the implementation of the new revenue recognition standard
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Prepare equity accounting work papers as part of month end close
  • Assist in the preparation of position papers for ad hoc technical accounting issues
  • Support quarterly and annual financial reporting responsibilities
  • Support the external quarterly reviews and year-end audit

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum 3 years progressively responsible accounting and finance experience
  • Experience with Multi-Element Arrangements, VSOE and BESP preferred
  • Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm or other national accounting firm strongly preferred
  • Proven ability and desire to work effectively, delivering accurate results under tight deadlines, in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, dynamic environment.
  • Advanced understanding of Excel and proficient in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with AX Dynamics, Netsuite or both general ledgers systems a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Ability to confidently and effectively communicate to all levels within the Company.
