Job Title:  Senior Counsel, Strategic Partnerships

Reports To:  Deputy General Counsel

Location:  Reston, VA

comScore, a leading technology company in the entertainment measurement space is seeking a Senior Counsel, Strategic Partnerships in Reston, Va.  The Senior Counsel will play a critical role in comScore's contract negotiation of various types of partnerships in the entertainment industry. This is an exciting and intellectually challenging opportunity for an experienced self-starter to join a leader in information based marketing intelligence solutions.  

What You’ll Do In This Role:

  • In collaboration with various internal groups, translate term sheets into definitive agreements by structuring and drafting agreements that effectively address the company’s needs while taking into account legal and regulatory considerations.
  • Engage in direct contract negotiations with private and public entities.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally with corp dev and  product teams to understand strategic objective of partnership
  • Manage various projects and deadlines.
  • Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure compliance
  • Work with corporate development team to develop partnership strategies, advise on legal risks and analysis of various deals.
  • Provide assistance with global joint ventures, strategic partnership deals, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Manage and maximize use of outside counsel in line with budgeted amounts

What You’ll Bring With You:

  • A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, and licensed to practice in at least one state are required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of law firm or corporate law department experience is required.
  • A demonstrated background in internet and digital media technologies is preferred.
  • Experience in due diligence activities is preferred.
  • Experience in license drafting and negotiation is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) is required.
  • Must be able give well organized, thoughtful presentations to upper management and translate highly technical information to those with limited technological background
  • Ability to communicate and work well with technologists

comScore, a leading technology firm in the entertainment measurement industry,  is seeking a Compliance Project Manager (or coordinator) located in our Reston, VA headquarters.  The ideal candidate for this role will have had 1-3 years of compliance experience, including prior work in-house, some knowledge and familiarity with compliance programs and implementation, strong project management and organization skills, a go-getter, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, and be able to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.   Strong teamwork ethic, ability to communicate at all levels, and negotiate with diplomacy a must, as is a proven ability to manage time and maintain a detail-oriented approach.  This person will be assisting with all compliance team members, including the General Counsel & Deputy General Counsel. This person will also work with senior members of the legal team and internal business leaders and help coordinate internal and external compliance review and monitoring activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting in project management and administration in the existing and new compliance and privacy programs and audits.
  • Assisting in the monitoring, research and review of the company operations.
  • Administration of compliance processes.
  • Assisting with compliance and certification requests; managing and monitoring deadlines, renewals, and related activities on a continuing basis.
  • Other administrative tasks within the contracts and compliance departments as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of experience with exposure to and increased responsibilities in privacy and compliance functions. JD a plus but not required.
  • Experience and comfort working in a fast-paced environment, self-starter, collaborator, well-organized, and solutions-driven with the ability to multi-task and manage a large volume of current priorities.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, project management and related programs; proven background in accurate, high volume data entry.
  • Proven ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to successfully interact at all company levels.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of, and experience with a variety of state, federal, and international compliance privacy, security and/or data protection laws and regulations.
