Position:  Program Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

Location: Reston, VA

About This Role:

 

We are looking for a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Program Director to lead and produce DEIB programs and corporate DEIB initiatives. This individual will consult with key leaders to: develop impactful programs that increase the effectiveness of diversity throughout business operations; to find ways to foster an inclusive environment that invites belonging for all employees; to determine new recruitment, development, and retention approaches that increase representation at all levels; and, to lead evaluation and solution efforts to identify and resolve dynamics that may contribute to systemic equity issues.

 

What You'll Do:  

 

The DEIB Program Director will build and deliver programs from the ground up.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the shaping of a vision and a compelling message for DEIB by creating aspirational goals, plans for change, and assessment of initiatives
  • Serve as a subject matter expert both internally and as an external company representative, building a public network and presence in the D&I community 
  • Design, develop, implement, measure, and iterate DEIB programs and initiatives
  • Facilitate events and discussions
  • Partner with HR leaders on inclusive practices for recruiting, retaining, and developing employees
  • Partner with marketing and HR teams to incorporate DEIB into employer branding activities, creating and implementing communication strategies and content management for training, web resources, social media and print materials to support DEI and related initiatives
  • Consult with key leaders to assess how DEIB plays out in the day-to-day
  • Lead the company’s DEIB Employee Advisory Alliance
  • Guide the leadership team on messaging for DEIB-related matters
  • Make inclusion, equity, diversity, and belonging a well-integrated part of day-to-day operations, values, and company goals
  • Recommend appropriate changes to operational procedures to alleviate systemic inequities
  • Track the diversity metrics of the employee base using a scorecard approach, and prioritize programs in accordance with scorecard results
  • Engage the employee base in a way that celebrates differences, establishes a culture of respectful freedom of expression, and generates a supportive environment
  • Develop and maintain a DEIB professional support network
  • Attend to other DEIB items as opportunities arise

  • High proficiency in facilitation, instructional design, program management, and managing own projects. Iscomfortable with technology including online collaboration tools

  • Experience and Qualifications

What You'll Need:  

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience in organizing corporate programs including designing and launching initiatives from the ground up
  • Deep understanding of social and human rights issues, and knowledge of legal compliance pertaining to protected and not-yet-protected classes
  • The ideal candidate is a high performing program manager who has lived and breathed DEIB passionately even if it hasn’t specifically been a job requirement
  • Knowledge of global DEIB a plus.

This position is available as 100% remote, or fully based in Reston, VA, or as a flexible/hybrid schedule. Travel is possible but will beinfrequent.
