Job Title: Senior Director, Revenue, Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting
Location: Reston, VA
About This Role:
Responsible for oversight of the revenue recognition, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting processes for the organization worldwide. This includes managing end-to-end revenue process including contracting, billing and revenue recognition and managing external SEC filings and evaluating and documenting technical accounting issues. Responsible for adhering to generally accepted accounting principles and rules.
What You'll Do:
Serves as consultant and expert on all technical accounting issues including revenue accounting matters, lease accounting, goodwill, equity accounting, acquisitions, complex structured deals and contracts to senior management; Oversees Equity awards process, including grant management and stock compensation accounting
Drive the preparation and filing of SEC filings and XBRL reporting
Ensure that the company is in compliance with all financial policies, GAAP, and SEC-related reporting requirements.
Directs the work of Accounting teams; sets project deadlines, delegates responsibilities; allocates resources and monitors progress toward successful completion
Ensures that effective SOX controls are in place and are followed
Develops, implements and maintains systems, procedures and policies that meet audit standards and improve efficiency of the accounting function
Determines integration of contract related accounting for all foreign legal entities
Manages Auditing process and relationship with external auditors
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function; attracts, engages, grows and retains key talent; builds capability in others by training, mentoring, coaching, and creating opportunities for growth and learning; develops growth and succession plans
What You'll Need:
B.A./B.S. in Accounting
10+ years of relevant experience, CPA strongly preferred
In-depth understanding of industry practices, company policies and procedures
Broad knowledge of FASB requirements, GAAP accounting principles, practices, as well as tax reporting and SEC filing requirements; knowledge of international revenue recognition standards
Experience integrating high complex accounting functions both domestically and internationally
Proven management skills; strong business acumen and strategic thinking; ability to conduct interactions at high levels within with external parties on issues with broad impact
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and oral/written presentation skills
Ability to anticipate the organization’s needs, act proactively, and provide preemptive counsel to Management
Proven team management experience building scalable work teams; ability to build managerial capability and develop bench strength in direct reports
