French Mobile Users Share Product Information While in Retail Stores

In France, nearly 19 percent of mobile users texted or called friends or family about a product while being in a retail store during October 2011. The second most popular activity related to e-commerce while mobile users were in a store was to take a picture of the product (18 percent reach) and nearly 10 percent shared that picture with friends or family.

Bricks-and-mortar retail locations once got the consumers’ complete attention as soon as they entered the store, but with the advent of smartphones, consumers can pull information or solicit opinions from beyond the store walls. New technologies also scored high with French mobile owners as 6 percent scanned a QR code while shopping in a retail store in October 2011.
