UK Digital Market Overview July 2013

Here is a brief summary of some of the key topics covered in this report

Britons surfing the web via PC remained stable at 44.6m unique users, with video consumption growing slightly month on month to almost 36.8m unique viewers.

  • Mobile was the area of growth again with an overall month on month increase of almost 3% to 29m with daily visitors increasing 3.5% to 11.1m

This month’s demographic group in focus are males aged 25 to 34 and highlights a couple of areas of interest that you might not have assumed for this group;

  • Tax is actually the highest indexing category for the group, although the volumes are admittedly low, and Politics also makes their top 10, reflecting an interest in the local elections which took place during the month.
  • Perhaps more stereotypical is the ecommerce activity around music and movies, use of humour sites and visiting lifestyle sites such as Dailymotion and CraveOnline along with Gaming sites.

Sports is the category reviewed through the Multi-Platform lenses this month and highlights the importance of mobile for keeping up to date with developments in the sector;

  • BBC Sport and Sky Sports perform particularly well with their on-network mobile browsing contributing a mobile exclusive audience of 1.8m and 1.2m unique users respectively, that is an incremental reach of 25% and 34%

VEVO returned to the top spot pushing UMG back into second place in the YouTube partner channels ranking, whilst Maker Studios climbed two places to number six.
